Detlef Gürtler

Venture Researcher and Publications Manager

Detlef joined Beam in January 2020 and works as Venture Researcher and Publications Manager

Prior to Beam Detlef worked for 11 years as an editor and senior researcher at the Swiss think tank GDI Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute. There he was focused on detecting future trends in technology and evaluating their impact on the economy and society. Additionally, Detlef was author, blogger, and editor for a bunch of German newspapers, magazines and corporate publications. Since 2001, he has written about a dozen non-fiction books, mainly on economics, eg “Die Dagoberts”, a history of the richest men of their times (yes, sorry, no woman ever made it) and a 101 on economics (“Die Tagesschau erklärt die Wirtschaft”).

In the last century, Detlef studied Political Science and Economics at Heidelberg University and Journalism at the Henri-Nannen-Journalistenschule in Hamburg. His teacher there, Wolf Schneider, was the best teacher he ever had.
